FORECAST DISCUSSION

Our entire forecast this week hinges the path of Tropical Storm Fay. If you live in a flood prone area, you should take the time now to review actions in the case of significant flooding later this week. If Fay travels close to and on the west side of Augusta, then small and relatively short-lived tornadoes will be possible later this week. If Fay travels far enough to the south and west of Augusta, less rain is likely and severe weather will be increasingly unlikely.

A weak stationary front remains over south Georgia and the coast through Wednesday. Spotty showers and perhaps a thunderstorm are possible Wednesday afternoon, especially south of Augusta.

The circulation around Fay will begin to affect the area early Thursday. Outer rain bands could bring locally heavy rain to areas especially south of Augusta Thursday through Saturday. Up to 6 inches of rain is possible if Fay moves over the region. 

Fay departs the area late in the weekend with seasonable mid August weather Monday and Tuesday.
